Private Sandbank Experience

Fushifaru, as well as some other resorts in the Maldives offer private sandbank experiences. This is a very unique selling point for Maldives and definitely something you should experience if you book your stay with a resort that offers it. Being all by yourself in the middle of the Indian Ocean is probably not something you’ll be able to do in 30 years (due to the rising water levels), so if you’re thinking of going to the Maldives, hurry up and book your trip.

For me it was a no-brainer to book this and I was super excited about surprising Mike with a private sandbank picnic. I made the booking on his birthday and decided to take the afternoon ‘slot’, so we could watch the sunset there as well. It was to date the most romantic thing we’ve ever done. Ok, and a little cheesy too – but who cares, it’s the Maldives!

Birthday babe.

The sand is so soft and the water such a perfect temperature.

After a short ride from the main island, we made it to our very own private sandbank. We really couldn’t believe our eyes at how magical it was. Nothing but the waves hitting the soft sand and the sun shining over our heads. We took the drone out to take some shots while we waited for the food to arrive.

You, me and the sea.

Maldives food delivery. Amazing right?!

Food is here!

The resort staff prepared some sandwiches, baked goods, water and some wine. After we were done eating we decided to go for a swim and swing in the hammock. Literally all we did here was relaxing and pinching ourselves about this place being real.

Off for a swim.

We spent about 2.5 hours on the sandbank and we were very excited to see the sunset from here. We then drank the rest of the wine and watched the sky change colours from orange to pink and all the way to purple. It was a dream come true.
